Coil Whine Through Headphones

I've been hearing a bit of coil whine through my headphones both on my old GTX 970 and my 980 ti. It's mostly only during loading screens which is why I'm not especially concerned about the hardware, but at the same time it's extremely annoying. I've been thinking about buying a pcie sound card, will this actually work to get rid of the whine coming through? The sound chip on the mobo is pretty close to the GPU, which I'd imagine is picking up some EMI.

I run a PCI-e sound card, at times i can still hear the coil whine coming from my graphics card, the coil whine isn't bad to begin with either.
The best option would be to use an external DAC.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to buy one of those, trying to keep the number of things on my desk to a minimum. If it has to be done though, it has to be done.

It could depend on what sound card you buy too.
I'm using a Creative Sound Blaster Z, haven't had any experience with any other branded sound cards though.

I had a guy locally on craigslist selling a sound blaster ZX for $30 so I picked it up, solved the problem completely and I'm pretty happy
