AT&T vs. Time Warner for Gaming

I recently canceled TWC because we weren't getting speeds we were paying for. We were paying for 20 mbps, but only got around 17, and it costed about $95/month. AT&T offered 24 mbps and way more channels (which isn't as important) for $90/month. Would the two services have that much of a difference in ping for games? I checked around, and people seem to say cable is better, but I'm still not sure.

Why would people say cable is better that dsl....I assume that is what att is offering if it is fiber it is the same as cable. DSL the connection between your house and the central office is dedicated. On cable systems you share the connection to your house with all your neighbors so the performance can be affected by other people.

Likely stupid people who think the higher speeds you generally see on cable is better for games just because the number is bigger. Games use very little bandwidth so it does not really matter.

Ping times depends on too many factors to even predict. They will likely be very similar. Mostly it will depend on how the ISP connects to the nearest big city. If you live close to a big city there is not...
