I have a home theater system. For some reason Windows will not find my TV through the HDMI I have hooked in as an audio device. I was able to do this with the GTX 970 but not with my new ASUS Turbo GTX 1080. Did Nvidia disable sound over HDMI for their video cards?

Solution
A few things to try would be reinstalling the driver, rolling back to an older driver (maybe they messed up hdmi audio in the newest one), or trying a different HDMI port on your TV. Nvidia would never disable sound over HDMI, it's either a software issue or a bad port on your card, almost certainly the former. If you go to playback devices it won't even show it?
