Hello there, I haven't upgraded my PC for about a year now and have recently noticed how many new generations of components are now on the market. I am now wondering if my system might be a little outdated. Here are my current specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

CPU:Intel Core i5 4460 @ 3.20GHz

RAM: 16.0GB Dual-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz

Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. Z97-A (SOCKET 1150)

GPU: 4095MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 (MSI)

Storage: 232GB Crucial SSD, 1863GB Seagate Hard Drive

How would you suggest that I improve my set up? What should be the first thing I upgrade?
I'm not made of money but am used to the high price of computer components.
I use my computer mainly for gaming, Photoshop and general internet browsing.

Thanks for your time.

In my opinion, unless you're doing heavy edits in Photoshop and its taking to much time I'd only upgrade the GPU. If you are doing lots of edits, I'd seriously consider waiting a month or so and look at what these new 8-core ZEN platforms can do. Even going to 6th or upcoming 7th Gen Intel would require new board, RAM, and CPU. I went from 3rd Gen Ivy Bridge to Skylake 6th Gen in my HTPC. System is a little snappier, but not night and day.
