So about 7 moths ago I bought part for me to build a new PC. It all worked well and I played a most games on high quality setting and getting very often 60 fps out of it.
Nowadays its all different, a game I used to play at High quality and getting 60 fps from is now alot worse (aswell as other games). Now I need to play at lowest settings and only get 30-40 fps out of it.
Ofcourse I know componets get slower and all but can I do something to make my GPU run faster again?

(I have an MSI GeForce 960 Gaming 2GB and an Intel core i5 4460)

Thanks // Gustav

A bloated OS just means your OS is full of junk and may be taking up too much resources thus slowly slowing down your pc while you game, I like to do a clean install of the OS on my gaming computer every 2 years or so. An inexplicable drop in performance in a game that used to perfom well is likely software related if nothing in your pc is overheating. When was the last time you updated your gpu drivers? First thing I would try is updating or reinstalling your drivers. If that doesn't work I would just cover all my bases and reinstall the whole OS.

The GPU does not get slower over time it gets less capable of playing newer more demanding games of course but it does not get slower due to hardware degradation or something like that, at least not to a noticeable degree like that. This sounds like a bloated OS to me, or maybe your cpu or gpu is overheating and throttling. Do you have a lot of programs installed and running? What do you have launching on startup? Look in task manger what is ram, usage, cpu usage and, disk usage just sitting at the desktop doing nothing? What are cpu and gpu temps when playing a game?

Can you explain what a bloated OS is? I did the Heaven benchmark test and my GPU was not overheating it did'nt go over 50 degrees Celsius even. I dont have alot of programs installed and I have space in both my HD and SSD. At startup Spotify, Skype and Origin coming up in a window instantly. In task manager when im doing nothing (exept having Chrome with like 7 tabs up) it says my CPU is around 5%, disk at 0% and memory 30% . GPU temp doesnt really go over 50 degrees Celsius when playing. Cpu temp maybe 30-40 degrees celsius.

Hope this helps you get a better understanding. (and I'm not using onborad GPU)
