Alright boys so, i need some help here because i might be acting really stupid. So I bought a gtx 950 FTW in November of last year because I had saw that it was able to be overclocked to the max. So I put it in and i have always though i was running it all the way overclocked but I was watching a video and some dude put his mem slider all the way up and so i googled what that did and now people are saying that is actually how you overclock it (Using EVGA Precision X OC). Now my slider is not all the way up but is it going to be dangerous to turn it up? My motherboard is a b150m and the card has its stock coolers which I can max those out if I need to and I assume they go fast because they get real loud. Thanks.

if your new to overclocking, dont even think about it. read guides and find the exact same model of your card and see how much it can handle. if you want to experement, do it slowly 1 baby step at a time. dont save changes to auto. remember the settings and see if its stable everytime you do so.

So you bought a 950 FTW and were running it at stock assuming it was already overcloked as far as it can go? If so no it was not, not only the memory clock but the core clocks were likely a lot lower than what the card is capable of. No overcloking wont damage the card not using evga percsion x anyway it wont let you crank the voltage or power limits so high that it damages the card, the worse you will do is crash your system because you pushed the clocks too high. Here is a video guide on how to oc using msi afterburner which i personally prefer over precision x, yes it will work with an evga card.

Okay cool, so I can push it up to 100 mhz without changing voltage or any of that?
Hey and also another question, is it going to be safe to push the gpu clock offset to 100 along with the mem offset? I think that you already answered that but I was slightly confused so I am just confirming. Thanks, you've be so much help.

Probably, if not turn up the voltage none of those programs are going to let you push it very far. It may go beyond a 100mhz offset.

Can I change to clock offset with that? I changed the mem offset already or is that a bad idea?

Yes I would, memory overcloking does very little in terms of game performance you would see a larger benefit overclocking the core or both. Watch the video I linked above if you want to learn how to do it properly. I am confident you will not harm your gpu playing with any settings in msi afterburner or percison x, the bios on your gpu and those programs have limits which are well below what could potentially harm the card. The only way I see that you can outright kill a gpu overclocking is by flashing a custom bios onto the card and doing voltage mods. Overcloking is not this big bad dangerous thing people make it out to be, especially with gpu's nowadays.
