When replacing my laptops touch digitizer, I didn't bother taking out the battery since I figured nothing bad would happen if I didn't press the power button. I know I didn't press the btuon, but mow the power won't start no matter what I do.

Could it be that maybe power still runs, so the motherboard got shot? If this is the case, would it also kill the other components such as the RAM, hard drive, and battery? Please respond! I am trying to find out if I should buy the new parts or not. Thank you.

My device is the toshiba satellite p55t-a5118

Yes, you can ruin something with main batter plugged in. there's still a lot of potential in the circuits all over the MB. The effect is same as if you left power on (but computer not running) in a desktop computer and than start plugging and unplugging components.
