Ridiculous amount of boot, stuttering, and crashing problems

Hey guys,

As of the last week or so, my computer has been riddled with countless problems -
- Windows (10) takes 5-10 minutes to boot on an SSD (in black screen with blue logo)
- Steam and Origin repeatedly crash and refuse to download some games (solution seems to be switching to other hard drive, not sure why?)
- Stuttering on games happens after some time, stuttering seems to happen in a pattern too
- Many other similar problems

I initially thought it could be a memory leak, and I still do, but I also think it could be relevant to my hard drive that seems to be causing problems (still doesn't explain insane boot times). I don't have any explanation for these things happening. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi there Colin Hollenback,

I would agree with svan71. It may be a good idea to remove all the secondary drives from the system. Sometimes, a failing secondary drive could cause overall system unresponsiveness.
If this sorts the issue out, then you can test your HDDs with some third party tool/brand specific that can provide SMART data, as SkyNetRising suggested.

If the issue persists and your drives are in a healthy state, then you need to troubleshoot your other components as well. What are your system's specs?

Cheers,
