Completely new build or rip apart old build - wait for Zen/Kaby??

I am currently thinking about rebuilding my gaming computer which I built in 2010? or 2011? For the last few years I really haven't gamed too much because my system has been out of date and unable to play anything, because of this it's hard to tell you exactly what my requirements are in terms of GPU power (ie. I want to play DOOM on ultra settings) Although I would like to future proof my system as much as possible. When I was playing games I played mostly WoW, and I would like to get back into MMO's once again. I have purchased Guild Wars 2, but to my knowledge its not a huge graphics intensive game.

My Current system includes:

- CPU - AMD 955 Black Edition
- GPU - EVGA Nividia GTX 460
- Case - CoolerMaster 922HAF (has USB 2.0, one of the leg pegs is missing, idk if I can buy one for it)
- PSU - Corsair GS600
- Mobo -Asus M4A88T AM3+
- Memory - 4G DDR3 1600MHz x2
- Memory - 2G DDR3 1600MHz x2
- Storage - 1T Western Digital 7200RPM
- Cooling - Corsair H60

My proposed system:

- CPU - Intel 6600k $249.99 (Amazon.ca)
- GPU - EVGA GTX 1060 6G $324.99 (Newegg.ca) (open to other suggestions on companies)
- GPU - Gigabyte Radeon RX480 $339.99 (Newegg.ca) (open to suggestions on companies)
- Case - NZXT S340 $89.99 (Newegg.ca) (Very open to sugestions on different cases)
- PSU - Hoping to use my old one if possible but I could use some help here
- Mobo - Z170 something could really use some help here. Some people I talk to say Asus or bust, others say it's a waste of money go with AsRock. I plan on OC'ing my CPU (nothing crazy)
- Memory - Team Elite DDR4 2400 MHz 16G $99.99 (Newegg.ca)
- Storage - ADATA Premier SP550 120G $54.99 (Newegg.ca)
- Cooling - Want to use existing Corsair H60

So my main questions are this: Should I pop and get the intel 6600k right now for $250? I live in Canada and they normally go for $330. I could wait for boxing day sales but I'm not sure if there will be a big price difference. Also should I be waiting Kaby lake? Will those CPU's bring the price down of the Skylake CPU's to the point where its smart to hold off. Also with ZEN coming out would I be able to use my existing mobo? Im somewhat lost on what direction I'd like to go.

If I have missed any information please let me know and I can let you know. Thank you all in advance because I know how helpful you all can be!

I'm not saying wait or go but there is something you should consider. The prices of SSDs are on their way up. You can find an article explaining what's causing that right here on Tom's. http://www.tomshardware.com/news/ssd-hdd-shortage-nand-market,33112.html Also, your SSD is too small. Even if you plan to only use it to boot, 120 is small. Go with at least 250. It is amazing how fast just the OS and a few apps that you want to start up when you boot up will consume space. If you want a favorite game on the SSD even more space will get consumed. Note that WoW with all the expansions including Legion is close to 50GB all by itself. Further, you do not show any other storage. Surely, you want to include a HDD of at least 1TB for all the...

I think you should wait for Zen, depending on if it turns out to be good as they say it is, it should be out in about a month. You will need a new AM4 mobo for Zen.

AMD is holding an event on December 13 which will have more information on the ZEN CPU's.

Wait for Zen. My current system is a placeholder that isn't meant to be high-end at all, and I'll be building a Zen/Vega build within the next year or so. I know exactly what I need, but hopefully, AMD will provide that push.

But outside of that, here's what I'll tell you. For the case, I personally do not advocate the S340 due to no optical bays (yeah, I still use optical drives occasionally). If you want NZXT, go for a Phantom 530 or something similar. Personally, I would rather use a Fractal Design Arc Midi more than anything. It doesn't look very "gamer-like" I'll admit, but something like that is sturdy, and you can get one with a window. GPU-wise, in the midrange I believe the RX 480 is more than sufficient for 1080p and some 1440p, so ditch the 1060. Even a 1050 Ti can max out Doom in Vulkan, but Vulkan also prefers AMD chips just like DX12.

Considering the age of your system, I would go for a new HDD.

Regardless of whether you elect to build now, you might want to get your SSD and HDD now. Prices will not be better for a good while.

As for the mobo, decide what you need and read a few reviews. Asus, MSI, and Gigabyte all have good Z170 mobos on the market. I built a new rig last August and went with a Gigabyte z170x Gaming 5. I'm very happy with it.
