Hey guys, I bought a built gaming PC 3 years ago and it came with no operating system on it and so installed windows 7 64bit professional and during the summer just past I wiped my hard drive and lost my product key and I bought a new one and it worked and everything is fine but I wanna wipe it again but seem to have lost my re-installation disc but I have my product key which is OEM and I heard you can install it from USB so I went to the Microsoft's website to download the iso file and it says "Error

The product key you entered appears to be for software pre-installed by the device manufacturer. Please contact the device manufacturer for software recovery options."

So I was wondering what ISO file do I need for my usb drive?
and Can I reuse my OEM key for this.

Solution
Can that key be used again?
Completely unknown. That is 100% between you and Microsoft. But if it is an OEM license, probably not.

Right now, you have a 'license' from kinguin, and no install media.
What happens next is up to you.

And don't be too trusting of the 'process' they have to go through to sell there.
Just here in Tom's, we've seen dozens, probably hundreds, over the years, of keys that either don't work from the beginning, or become invalidated later.

Your money, your choice.

1. You can't reuse the OEM license that came with your prebuilt
2. You appear to have purchased another OEM license from (wherever). And it appears to have been used previously.

For an OEM license, Microsoft expects you to get the install media from the manufacturer.

3 ways forward:
1. Contact Microsoft. They may take pity on you
2. Purchase another OS, this time from a valid source that doesn't sell already used licenses.
3. Contact who you bought it from and get satisfaction from them. Either a valid install ISO, or your money back.

For transfer of an OEM license, the licensing terms require the seller give you the license key and the actual install media.

You bought an OEM from Kinguin.
Microsoft requires you to enter the license key to download the ISO file.
If an OEM license, they kick you back to the manufacturer, or whomever sold it to you.

So....
Either buy a new, valid OS license from an authorized retailer (not kinguin).
Or ask the kinguin person you bought this from for a valid Win 7 Pro install media. Good luck with that.

Cause it worked on my pc which had windows 7 already on but not activated I still had the disc from the previous key which is an re-installation disc and sellers on this site have a hard process to go through before they are allowed to sell on it.

So would it be easier for me to have a look around my house for that windows 7 disc and can the key that I have currently on my windows be used again to activate windows.

I'd have to agree with NewBorn92. I purchased Windows 7 Pro 64Bit OEM on a Disc for a new build desktop I put together.

I've used this Windows 7 disk to install Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit onto 2 Dell laptops that are about 2 years old each that came equipped with this same version OS and I've had no problems with the install on either laptop. I use the Microsoft Key that came with the laptops to activate and authenticate.
One has had a new Samsung 250GB SSD installed and the other laptop I took the standard hard drive from the newly installed 250 SSD laptop and put it in that one.

So new hardware (hard drives) has been installed on both laptops and they are running just fine.

In fact, the laptop that still has a standard hard drive is getting a new 250GB Samsung within a couple of weeks and I will be installing that Windows 7 Pro 64Bit OEM disk onto that new SSD and getting the OS authenticated using the Key that came with the laptop.
