Choosing the right ram

Solution
On the Corsair 3200 I'd give a rough guess of probably, but may need a slight CPU OC, it will depend on your individual CPUs MC (memory controllers - If simply ruling out a CPU OC then think the 2800 would be a safer bet (2800-3200) is often the edge points for needing a CPU OC with the 6700K

It's best not to guess at the price of Corsair Platinum. Phew they are expensive but excellent DIMMs.
These are the memory types for your CPU and what Intel recommend:
DDR4-1866/2133, DDR3L-1333/1600 @ 1.35V
Anything over 2133MHz is considered an overclock.
It will depend on the strength of the IMC in your chip if they will play fair.

Your MB will handle the higher OCs however you may need to update your Bios to allow for your XMP profile.

There is little to gain performance wise by choosing higher frequency Ram than what the CPU can support.

Oh yes, 2x8GB 3200/14 Platinum $179 vs say RipJaws V or TridentZ 3200/14 for about $125-130 - and both the RJ V and the Tri Z have more OC headroom - I was amazed when I compared some of these sets, can't see throwing away $50 for 'platinum'
