Hello!

I have a 1TB, a 500GB and a 120GB-SSD.. my problem is (and please bare with my struggle to explain) that my SSD has windows on but the 500GB has the bootmanager for some reason... i can see the 500GB when i right click on my computer-manage, but i cannot access the 500gb... so my question is who do i move the bootmanager to the SSD when i cant access the 500GB and why is it there in the first place..

Many thanks in advance!

Welcome to Tom's Hardware, @MiniDonut!

I'm afraid that you are most probably encountering an OS confusion. This usually happens when you install Windows onto the primary drive (your SSD) while still having the secondary HDDs connected to the motherboard at the time of the installation. Unfortunately, Windows OS has this tendency to get confused when you have more than 1 destination SATA device connected to the mobo.

In order to fix the issue, I'd recommend you attempt to boot with this particular HDD unplugged. You will most probably encounter a booting issue, so make sure your recovery disk/Windows installation media is nearby. Running the Startup repair options and/or fixing the MBR might actually help you...

Running the Startup repair options and/or fixing the MBR might actually help you get the boot manager onto the SSD. However, you will most probably need to reformat that 500 GB HDD. Do you have any important files on it? It would be really helpful if you share a screenshot from your Disk management in Windows.

Keep me posted with any questions and the troubleshooting you have done so far. :)
