My neighbor offered me help to assemble my computer(since I don't know much about computers) and after he connected everything the computer wasn't turning on,So he said that it is the fault of the PSU and told me to get it replaced. So I took the whole cabinet to the local technician with everything connected because I wanted to make sure I didn't have any other problems. The technician asked me which idiot had connected the wires. It was because my neighbor connected the 8 pin EPS CPU connector to the GPU and connected the 8 pin PCI-E connector to the MOTHERBOARD.After the technician connected them properly,The computer switched on and everything seems to be working. My question is,are my GPU and MOTHERBOARD 100% ok? Did the earlier attempt to switch it on damage them? My PSU is CORSAIR VS650,My GPU is ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 970 and my MOTHERBOARD is ASUS H81M-CS.

I don't think anything is wrong with it. Your PSU could tell something wasn't right.

Over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current and short circuit protection are a few of the safety team members that stand watch in your PSU. There aren't just a hot and ground wire and if it's connected wrong then ZAP!. PSU's are smarter these days.

I'm just surprised they fit. About the only thing that could be wrong is he may have physically "hurt" something by forcing those connections. Electrically speaking it should be fine.
