Have a desktop PC that was running Windows 10. Had to do a reinstall of Windows, and the computer unexpectedly shutdown before I was able to begin.
Now the computer doesn't boot at all. The monitor stays black, I don't hear a beep, and I don't see the PC's logo/bios screen. Nothing at all.
I opened up the PC and see the green motherboard light (I know that means that power is supplied to the motherboard, not that the motherboard is necessarily working). Fans are running fine. The power button is no longer lit up and I can't open the DVD drive by pushing the normal button.
I assume the motherboard somehow got shorted or something. Are there any tests I can do to see if there's something else causing the problem? I know that I should just scrap the PC if the motherboard is dead (pc is 6 years old, but was running fine). I swapped in a new power supply from another PC, and the problem persists.
Any advice out there would be much appreciated. Thanks.
