Heyo! I'm very new here so sorry if this is in the wrong area or whatever, but hopefully i'm okay

I'm starting a degree in Software Design at the start of next year, and sure, i'm okay with the software and developing side of things, but I really have no clue whatsoever when it comes to hardware.

My budget is $750-$1000.

I'm looking to write programs in Unity, C++, Java, JS, e.t.c. I may also use this computer to watch Youtube and play LIGHT games [Shellshock Live, Rocket League, e.t.c].

I would probably need 16GB Ram.

Just wondering what kind of desktops you guys would recommend?
