The problem is when running games like Arma III and Rust (or any large multiplayer open world, besides games like far cry and fallout) I seem to have problems with performance. I think my system is good enough to be running these things but when I'm playing Arma i struggle to get 40 frames on the lowest possible settings.

System Specs:
- I have a Dell Inspiron 660 (which has a mini computer case)
with the default motherboard (I can't find the model or manufacturer anywhere)
and 1TB hard drive, but I can't find the names of them.
- 8 GB RAM
- Intel I5 3340 Quad-core processor
- EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 950 SSC
- EVGA 850w Bronze Power Supply

I'm not really sure if this would affect anything, but I'm running it on a 1920x1080 HDMI monitor, and I'm using dual monitors.

While I was looking for other peoples questions to see if I could find a solution before asking, people asked what programs they had running in the background.

While I'm playing Arma III I'm running my own Teamspeak Server (port forwarded) and TeamSpeak, plus the Steam app since it has to be open to play. I get 35~ frames when outside of cities and 22~ frames in the most demanding city (Agia Marina). When I get into any type of gun fight I lose frames pretty badly also.

Thank you for your time, hopefully you have a solution.

But what's weird is that the Geforce control panel is constantly trying to set the graphics to high, and shadows to ultra, even though it kills my computer so I don't use their recommended settings, that's why I thought it was something else.

I didn't catch that lowest settings bit, thanks. That definitely means cpu.

One thing to check with the GFE auto settings, make sure it's not upping the resolution as well. It may be putting it at like a 4k resolution, because Nvidia GPUs can "downscale" 4k resolution to fit on a 1080p screen for example.

You can disable that by opening up NCP, go to Manage 3d Settings and scroll down to DSR Factors and uncheck all the boxes and hitting apply. (in the bottom right)

Thanks for your feedback, but when i go to my manage 3D settings tab there is no boxes to check, going into DSR factors i only have the option to change it from 1.20x to 4.0x and its default is 2.0x.

Sounds like you might need to properly update your drivers then.

Should look like this:

If you have graphics or driver issues, one of the most common fixes is a clean uninstall and removal of your graphics drivers.

To uninstall your drivers, first download and run Display Driver Uninstaller, and follow it's recommendations of booting into safe mode and ect.
(This is a direct download link so you don't grab the wrong version)
http://www.guru3d.com/files-get/display-driver-uninstaller-download,20.html

You'll download a compressed file called "[Guru3D.com]-DDU.zip"
Right click and choose extract.
Go into the folder and run the DDU v##.##.exe
This will extract more files to this folder.
Run Display Driver Uninstaller.exe
Choose Yes when it asks you to boot into SafeMode.
After you've rebooted into safe mode.
When DDU comes up, if it hasn't selected your GPU manufacturer (Nvidia/AMD/Intel) then choose it from the drop down list
Press the Clean and Restart option
If a window comes up asking to disable the Windows automatic installation of display drivers click yes.

After (or before removing the old drivers, just put the new ones on the desktop or somewhere handy) rebooting back into Windows, manually download the latest drivers from Nvidia or AMD, don't use auto detect, choose you GPU model and OS from the drop down lists.

I got that done, and it seems like my game is running a bit smoother with a 5~ Frames per second boost in most situations, but I still feel like tahts a bit low for my system.

Thanks for all your help guys, I do what most of you suggested and also did some research into what settings I should be using, I managed to boost myself to about 45~ frames outside of combat and 35~ under fire. Again, thank you for your time and help.
