So I'm planning to upgrade my i3-4160 to i5-4690 this christmas, I have a gtx 1050 ti and was wondering hows the performance overall with a 4690? is it worth upgrading? budget still tight on skylake build . . . so if any of you guys have any video benchmark of the pair that would be awesome :) happy holidays!!

Solution
like looking here at scores you may see a bump up in performance [had to use the 1050 ''ti'' the 1050 did not work with one of the cpu used ???] ..Oops!

but gives a idea anyway

Unless you have a specific game that is CPU bound and needs an upgrade, I side with Herc - you will not see much of a performance increase. 1050 TI is not exactly a performance monster that will be handicapped by i3-4160

Another option is to wait out for AMD Zen release. I doubt that it will be a miracle sending Intel running, but it will put pressure on prices and force Intel for a discount.

I use a 980ti with a non k 4670 and all seems good to go works well

Solution
thing is his 4690 is good that 1050ti will be underwhelming with it that cpu will work well with up to a 1080 my non k 4670 runs with a gtx 980ti great true more processing power will help but that's with anything

in the end he may be wishing he saved up for at least a 1070 or just go find a 980ti on sale to match up with his cpu [opinion]
