Hello everyone,

Well, I'm on the process of building a rig and I thought of a couple of things (just to fool around) but I honestly wonder if they are possible to do and what repercusion may have on the system. so here they go:

By the way, the MOBO I plan to use is the MSI Z170A GAming M5

Should I put x4 4gb ram or simply x2 8gb?. Leaving price and brands aside, I recently came accross some sticks with led lights. Certainly 4 sticks with led would look cool, but What would be the impact on the system itself? . This is only for looks, but if it affects the system negatively, I won't do it.

I've read some mixed comments about this subject.

Anyone know how it would affect this mobo in particular?

thanks!

Solution
I would avoid 4 sticks of ram on a dual channel mobo if possible. It wont hurt anything but it adds more stress to the memory controller in the cpu, which can impact overclocks and possibly add more heat to the cpu.

:/ I thought as much. Not worth getting a quad channel mobo for just some ram sticks with led. Guess 2 will be enough.

Thanks m8.
