I plan to upgrade to a 1070 soon but cannot get the old card loose. The clamp will not budge, the mobo is a Gigabyte z97. Please help, I do not want to damage the mobo by pushing to hard with a screwdriver or something.

Solution
I noticed this with my board and my 900 card the latch / slot is harder to release ??? seems I have to gently pull up/rock /wiggle the card a bit wile pushing down the latch and it will ''pop'' out of the slot ???

all my other cards release from the slot more as like normal . bbut with the 980ti I use its a trick to get past the latch part of things for some reason

Yes, I've removed the screws every time I've tried getting it free. It is the lock that you push towards the motherboard that refuses to release. I cannot get it to push back, even when using a screwdriver to push while pulling the card. Part of the lock plastic broke off from me trying. I don't want it to slip and hit the mother board, which would most likely break it.

No it's supposed to be pushed towards the motherboard. I've taken it out before it just won't come out this time. Last time when I pushed it down after unscrewing it, it just popped out. Now it won't.

You could probably use something else, like the end of a pen with a lid on or something, as long as you're gentle nothing should break. Note: 'Should' ;)

I've done it this way and it's probably the best. Haven't had any stuck cards in awhile haha. A pencil's eraser great idea! It would be much harder to damage the motherboard. safety first

the pencil rubber eraser end is nice if you were to slip ? ya, I remember the first time I had to pull out the card . took me a few trys to get the right combo , but now I know my best way its a bit easier [push latch rock evenly wile pulling up kinda thing ]

good luck

Thanks so much guys, I'll try all of the above listed options and come back with feedback.

Edit: Thought I should add that it won't be until later tonight that I can respond with the feedback as I have school. Thanks again everyone!
