So i'm building another computer and would like to know if there is anything better than this that can game on as well as render video on. I can't really go any higher in price than what is given in the parts list.

The one thing that doesn't need to be included is a graphics card as i'm gonna use a gtx 970 that i have already bought.

Solution
Graphics card for sure. Maybe the SSD too to a bigger one.

The S12II 620w is a quality unit, but It's a bit old. Doesn't necessarily matter, but the EVGA G2 550w is a lot newer and better.

You don't need thermal paste it comes with the cooler and no that thermal paste won't make it cool better (maybe like 0.5c difference). Also get a 240gb ssd a 120gb is to small doesn't matter if you try super hard to keep it empty it will get full eventually.

Why the Xeon?
6600k has a higer clock speed and is made to overclock, paired with a Z170 motherboard, you can probably reach more than 4Ghz..

So your saying i should spend more on the cash and the power supply? What did you have in mind?

It's an overclocking setup after all. So you want a decent power supply in the first place, that's key.

What's your budget limit? If possible, swap the SSD for the MX300 275GB.

I can't go any higher than £650, sorry, although the case look nice and has a clean look to it. Also I thought the motherboard only supported DDR4 - 2133 mhz ram? Is the information that i found wrong?

It doesn't support XMP, but it has DDR4 Non-Z OC. Look here:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Fatal1ty%20E3V5%20Performance%20GamingOC/

I'd drop the thermal paste and switch to DDR4-2400 then. Because this is the build you should consider over the other one.
