It's the definitive question with no definitive answer.
Right now, my specs (the ones that matter) are as follows:
CPU: 3770k @ 4.8Ghz stable
GPU: 980 SLI
RAM: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz
All SSD's.
So preface this - I've seen no real bottlenecks in any games yet. With 2 980s. I mean, other than the bottlenecks that would happen with any CPU, which are within margin of error and completely negligible. What I have decided though - is I no longer want to deal with SLI. I've been an advocate of SLI for years now...but developers are supporting it less and less. Shown most recently with Battlefield 1 literally borking SLI with their latest update. So in light of that, I have a 1080 or 1080Ti on my list.
So the question is simple - will my 3770k@4.8GHz be a noticeable bottleneck to a GTX 1080 or 1080Ti at 1440p/1080p if I'm just looking to hit 60fps in games?
