Which PSU is best?

Hi! I just took out a harddrive from its enclosure (5tb Toshiba Canvio).

I put it in my case, and it started clicking and then beeping. My heart sank as I thought it was broken...I was ready to open it up and try to free the head from the platter, when I decided to plug it in at the mains, it works fine.
Specs:
i7 4790k
16gb Ram
Gtx 970 (1080 on the way)
250gb ssd
3TB HDD
5TB HDD (not working in this configuration)
600w PSU
DVDRW drive
Asus H81m-k (I think? Might upgrade though..as it maxes at 16gb ram...this should work with the 1080 no problem though, right?)

So I'm guessing there's not enough power from the psu... with a gtx 1080 on the way (pny xlr8), which psu would you recommend?

Also what's your thoughts on my CPU, is it still seen as a decent bit of hardware?

Many thanks!

Solution
A Corsair RMx 550/650 would be my choice here.
If it's cheaper, an EVGA Supernova G2 or GS or a XFX XTR

If money is tight, Seasonic G & XFX TS are great units.

Would replace the PSU with the problems listed above

Wow thanks for the response guys! It's a corsair cx600.

I got that motherboard because it was pre-built. I know nothing about overcloxking to be honest, but I'll consider it for sure.

So if the PSU is fine, what could be the problem?

EDIT: it's actually an 'integrator 600w' (80 plus bronze). I thought it was corsair for some reason..

Cheers all.

EDIT EDIT: Something just came to mind that might be worth mentioning.. - a while back, I had to turn off the asus anti surge protection because my computer keeps shutting down. So maybe the PSU is a piece of crapola. My computer keeps randomly turning on at night which drives me insane, which might also be linked to the PSU? Mm

This isn't the end all of PSU lists but to illustrate where the integrator sits which is tier 4. From the reviews I have read it should not blow up on you but its not all that great of a PSU. You have some pretty decent components and will have some expensive gear once that 1080 is installed. If you have the cash your idea of upgrading the PSU isn't a bad one. The tier one PSU's on that list are a good start, also Seasonic and Enermax titanium rated lines as well. A 600 watt to 750 watt PSU would work great, in fact you could get by with less but I would try to stick around 600 watts from a quality PSU maker.

Hi, I'm looking at motherboards now. I was going to get a Asus Z97-A, but I see those boards are limited to 32gb RAM (I'm a video editor as well as a gamer...I doubt i'll get anything higher than 32gb of ram in the near future, but I don't want to be limited just in case). So now I'm looking at something like the Asus Z170 PRO. Can you advise on what would be good? I am looking for something with an optical port, 64gb ram capacity and something that I can overclock with ease.

Edit: I realise these motherboards are designed for completely different chipsets, and my CPU is limited at 32gb anyway. Shows how little I know about this stuff... I could upgrade to SkyLake, but I'm unsure if it's worth it. AND I just dropped about £1k on a sexy case, card, PSU and now motherboard. I'll stop bothering y'all now. Thanks for the input.

Cool, that was my thinking too. Also I went with your suggestion and purchased an EVGA Supernova G2 650w PSU :)
