What is the best possible intel cpu that I can get for $250 for a gaming computer that won't bottleneck my gtx 960 acx 2.0 2gb?

If your not overclocking the xeon 1230v5 is basically an i7. ASRock makes a great motherboard for the CPU.

for gaming only the 6600k over the 1230v5. but like said above, the xeon does have its place if overclocking will never be used.

In many cases even an overclocked i5 doesn't have a chance of matching a stock CPU with hyperthreading. We're starting to see games well enough threaded that even an old i7 2600k often matches or beats 6xxx i5's.

That said, generally both CPUs will keep you above 60fps so, despite the i7/Xeon being significantly faster, the cost difference might be better spent elsewhere.

If you can revert the ASRock revision 1.1 bios did allow OC. Version 1.2 remove sky OC function.
