Just installed my new z170x g7 and having consistent no boot up. From a fresh boot up I get oc/eco light steady and no error code. Sometime it posts error code 19 either steady or steady for a few then oc/eco flashes and retries then ends up either 19 steady or oc/eco steady. only way to post was to clear CMOS. Today im seeing progress where I get the same oc/eco lights but turning off power and back on let me post. All this being said, this problem doesn't happen at all when I restart. So could this be memory saving issue? To add on this, I noticed that BBS configures my sshd instead of my SSD that has is installed.

What I should have started with was using 2x4gb rather than 4x4gb for more flex. Will try that when I get home.
Other than that I'll be messing with timing and voltage. Some reason
setting on auto caused trouble code
Any input would be great

ok so i was about to take the glass panels off and operate on my baby but before i did.. i went and tried starting from default bios again.
started at 4ghz first boot from power down didnt give me the oc/eco lights..but it gave me the 19.
went back to bios made small fix...i dont remember what i did.. but i will in 2 mins..
and its booting up normally. well two times in a row from a power down.. so i think it was me who jumped too quick on the bios settings.. now im gonna take it slow and see.. if i can get back my 4.7 or at least 4.6
i just dont get how the problem was only when i boot up and not from restarts...

i give up. i think either the bios is no good or the ram cpu and/or mobo arent working as well as the hd3p that i had.
i just dont get why the hell its getting the initial no boot but after i get past that im able to load my settings and run the pc normally.

i stopped at 4.3-4.4 and got the nvram b6 b7 codes
i thought it was my harddrive
now im thinking its the bios
ill try flashing it with a different version and if that doesnt work i have a couple choices but bare in mind that i only have one more day to return it, after that its rma and ive never rma anything before but it sounds like something i dont want to think about.
so...
keep the mobo and get new ram which was my plan a while ago.
keep the mobo and get the 6600k and/or ram
return the mobo and get a new mobo and 6600k and or ram

not ddr4

does any of this make sense to u though?
i have a feeling i might have messed up the onboard memory.. if that is what the nvram is about..
thing is. im able to boot and run my computer and im not seeing any performance degrading.. well sometimes the oddball settings i put in.. seems to lag my pc.. for example when i right click on desktop it takes a few seconds for the drop down, same with the task manager.. barely can scroll.. but it just happens when i use a bad ram frequency or timing..
other than that. benchmarks run fine, games run..
right now im running my old settings i had// 4.6ghz 15 15 15 35 313 2t

i know its hard to say but what do u think?
ive tried disconnecting everything and ran each stick, and just 1 set.. no difference

i might check out some ram.. ive always wanted to get the led's from corsair..

so .. im almost ready to give up the 6400 and get the 6600k.
before i do that.. i was looking for a reason why im having trouble with cold boots past 4.3ghz settings.
*What can I do to get past the b6 debug?

i figured .. hey maybe its the downfall of non-k overclocking.
Im currently running on F7d, I've tried on F7b and there was no difference.
I was able to run 4.6ghz with both auto xmp and manually setting ram timings of xmp 2400
xmp 2400 : 15 15 15 35 313 2t
in auto xmp it was about +3 looser

so this is the bios update info from gigabytes website:

yeah i understand that. what i dont understand is that im able to run 4.3ghz on cold boot no problem. but after that i get b6 nvram code. after power off/on i dont get the window pop up saying my oc failed. and instead i just boot up normally.
so what is it? a problem occuring on shutdown? or problem occuring on boot up?
i want to try and get past this point. I didnt get this much headache when i ran oc on my hd3p mobo.

I don't even mess with that that stuff, as mentioned, to me it's not worth he time and effort, my client builds are strictly K model CPUs, and if people want to OC the locked the CPUs, I pretty much leave that to them, too time consuming for too little gain

yup totally agree.
time spent on it is stupid. i just cant let it go. thats why i want to figure it out.
but i think its time to just let it go.. before i actually do harm to my other components.
i just hope i havent done anything bad to my motherboard. cuz today was the last day to return it.

i was bout to buy the 6600k today. ended up getting wings and just watch more videos on overclocking to see if i can extract anything.
one thing for sure. is that i would be pissed if my 6600k ends up clocking lower than what i could do with my 6400.
ive gone a long way with this 6400. started out as a budget system and turned it into a k series destroyer.
i really wanted to work on getting the 4.75ghz going.
i remember when i first came onto this forum, someone told me i would be lucky to even get 4.3ghz

i know im not supposed to put my twitch channel in the forum but this is an early stream that i made when i got my new motherboard:https://www.twitch.tv/lostchildeh/v/104937793

4.7ghz. Ive never gone this high on my previous motherboard. pretty confident i could run 4.7 stable if i keep tweaking. 4.75 was the highest i was able to boot up. windows ran but crashed on stress test.
