Alright Hi everyone so I have a question about overclocking an I5 6600k right, I bout it so that I would be able to overclock it if I ever wanted to. I never intended to but I saw how big of an FPS difference it makes and am now curious. So, I have a GTX 950 FTW at 100 mhz oc and I believe a 400 watt power supply. The issue was I believe someone said my motherboard would blow up to quote them cuz its not made for overclocking. The mobo is a B150m, my cooler on the processor is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC&cm_mmc=KNC-GoogleAdwords-PC-_-pla-_-CPU+Cooling-_-N82E16835103099&gclid=CjwKEAiAvZTCBRDvnoOaoa2j3xISJABxPjN93UWAQwx8L85jR6ZMSNFRzhxEdP7IRDyuokgpO3paMRoCKrbw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

Anyways, is it going to be safe for me to overclock and will I even be able to do it with the wattage I have?

Solution
You have the wrong motherboard for overclocking. You have to get a z170 because it's impossible to bclk OC more than 3 to 4.

Overclocking on a B150m is not a simple matter. The motherboard is not built to support overclocking. There are only a very few specific brands that it's even possible on. The overclock is an FSB overclock, which will change your RAM speed as well. It is also not supported by Intel, with them releasing microcode to disable it already.

The K at the end of the name means it's unlocked and overclockable however you need to have a motherboard capable of overclocking it and decent cooling. Also I strongly recommend getting a quality power supply when overclocking.
