Ok i am about to do 1 of two things
1- sell my current pc for a cheap price so it will sell and drop abunch into a new system (i7 6700k gtx 1070)
2- be able to keep my current set up and just upgrade to a 1070.

I have asked twice now and i have gotten so many mixed replies i dont know who to believe at this point..
Ok lets get started
My current set up is....!
27 inch 1440p 75 hz monitor
CPU-i5 4590 (non k)
Stock cpu cooler but it never gets very hot mid 60s
Gtx 970 windforce
Msi micro h97 e35 mother board
xfx 550w 80 plus bronze PSU
Coolermaster elite 431 plus case. ( this case sucks my cables have no where to go and are laying on my parts not in any harmful way but it looks like shit)
and 16 gigs of ddr3 1600 ram.

My question is can i upgrade to a 1070 with this current set up and play modern games for the next 2-3 years without a bottleneck? a 5-10% bottleneck isnt going to kill me but i dont want a huge bottleneck. i want to play my games maxed out. i play witcher 3 mass effect andromeda and a few others.
Will my power supply support a 1070? ive tried using google to look up how many 8 pin connectors my psu has and i cant find it. i want a msi gaming z or evga ftw 1070 which need two 8 pins.
what would be smart to do in my situation, I kindly thank you for taking some time out of your day to give me your thoughts and opinions!

Solution
Hello... good questions...
1) The GTX1070 is ranked right now at #4 and can always be installed into another system, if you experience a CPU bottle neck down the road B / so it is a good upgrade for your gaming needs right now. http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+1070

2) The power needs between the 1070 and 970 are only 5 watts more... and should not be a power burden on your existing PS.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+970
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=GeForce+GTX+1070

3) You will have to open up your case and look at your PS cables and check what you have... they should be labeled PCIe B / you might have to buy a PCIe 6 pin to 8 pin adaptor for it.

Estimable

Oh yeah, didn't read that, sorry.

I doubt it'll get bottlenecked by a great CPU like it is, and your PSU will most likely be able to handle it, but there can be good upgrades if it will make you more comfortable if you was to upgrade it, then something like the Seasonic S12ii 620W PSU will fit nicely, as well as something similar to the EVGA Supernova G2 650W or something similar.
