Hi, I have bought a new Note Book Vulcan Venture II, While I was trying to install Windows 7 on it I lost the hard drive visibilty from the Boot menu and Bios. It has emmc 32GB, which is not showing any more.

When I start the Laptop it goes to First line reads "EFI Shell version 2.31 [4.651] - Current running mode 1.1.2" and below this I get a message "map: cannot find required map" and to press ESC before the time is up to skip startup.nsh.

Any help would be appreciated

Hi there,
Is this a new laptop or a second hand ? if it is newly bought in a shop you should go back with the receipt and claim your warranty.
if it is a second hand then you could open it and change the HDD to a bigger one.
Is the HDD (32GB ?) an SSD ? then maybe you need to change some settings in the BIOS.
eg: Be sure that in the BIOS the RAID is not ON ! never use RAID if using just one HDD.

start from there and let us know how you proceed !

Cheers, Louise.

Hi Guys, Thanks for your answers
It was bought Far Far Away from USA, and they only cover RMA inside USA, It is new notebook, it has American Megatrend mother Board, built in Emmc 32 Memory and Rams.

Yes Hard Disk was showing. I lost it while trying to install windows 7, it booted once only when I was about the select the drive to install it was not there. It had incomplete windows which is wired. I contacted the supplier, he told me that windows 7 cannot be installed only way is to use recovery drive to update to windows 10. Buttt All this will be done once I see the hard drive in BIOS. It doesn't boot either. I tried hiren boot but it stucks :( ... Is there a tool or something that I can try ? Is UEFI Shell is something other than BIOS ?

you have different ways of testing: just download an Linux (or Ubuntu-) distribution and boot with the live version (usually) on it !
In Linux you should learn how to check a disk (google it, I cannot help with this).

Have you by accident deleted the first partition ?
Can you read the HDD if set as slave in a desktop or in a cradle with USB ?

Let us know !
Cheers Louise.
