A 500 GB SATA III SSD for $20 seems like a very good deal to me.
A good tool that can tell you if there is any issues with the drive once you have it in your vicinity inside the computer is CrystalDiskInfo. It might not tell you what the lifespan is of the drive, but it will alert you any issues it encounters with the drive and what might come ahead of you.

I have never bought a manufacturer refurbished ssd as I have never really owned an ssd or bought a refurbished drive, but it shouldn't be too bad. You can always make a refund or return if things don't go right.

I also never really done any RAID things or really know much about RAID other than the fact that you can have multiple drives connected together and can transfer files to all of them at the same time, but it might be a pretty good deal. It will make it into 1 TB and it might be pretty good :)

I doubt that is a real 500gb 850 EVO even for a used drive it will be more than double the price they are asking for. There is no way to predict how long it will last. Is the seller new to ebay?

Even if it's a good price, I'd avoid it unless you want to risk $20 to find out if it's any good.
