when I boot my PC, occasionally it says on the monitor screen "no signal", but then if I boot again, 100 percent of th time it boots perfectly fine. the strangest thing is that the gigabyte bios still functions fine every single time. could it be a problem with the DVI cable? it is fairly old.

Solution
My guess is that the monitor is turning itself almost off and needs time to wake up.
This may be related to your power supply not leaving enough residual voltage when off.

Instead of shutting down, try sleep to ram(no hibernate)
This will be much faster for sleep/wake and should keep all your parts except ram effectively off.

You can try changing the DVI cable or switch to HDMI. Do you hear a beep when starting the computer? Does it happen everytime or just when the computer was turned off for a while?
