Dear users,

I want to build a gaming pc, with the budget of 1000 euro's (1.073,80 dollars)

The games I am going to play are mostly the Total-War games (Warhammer, Rome2, Atilla)

I know that the games rely heavily on CPU (see the benchmark link)

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/total_war_warhammer_directx_12_pc_graphics_performance_benchmark_review,8.html

There are two build I have in my mind, and I would like to hear your thoughts!

1.
Processor: Intel Core i5-6400 Boxed € 179,-
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-B150-HD3P € 85,99
Intern memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2A2400C16 € 88,-
GPU: Sapphire Radeon RX 480 NITRO+ 8G OC € 290,40
Solid state drives Crucial MX300 2,5" 525GB € 120,50
Case: Fractal Design Define S € 74,-
Power supply: Corsair CX450M € 52,95

2.
Processor: Intel Core i7 6700 Boxed
Motherboard: MSI B150M Night Elf
Intern memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX Black 16GB DDR4-2133 CL13 kit
GPU: MSI Radeon RX 470 Gaming X 4GB
Sold state drives: Crucial MX300 525GB
Case: Corsair Carbide 88R Black
Power supply: Arctic Freezer i11
Cooler: Corsair CX450M

Thank you in advance!

Solution
For strategy games- bigger monitor and higher resolution is a plus. With that in mind, I would recommend going for either RX480 8GB and plan for a wide 1080/1440p monitor with freesync- or just RX480 4GB for 1080p. If no freesync in plans- then GTX1060 6GB is also a choice.

Nr. 1 is alright but if brand doesnt matter you can better get a GTX 1060 6GB for under $10 more

For strategy games that have A LOT of units- CPU is important. Total War: Warhammer DX12 minimum frame rate is way higher on i7 vs i5, and performance is much more even- see last two graphs here http://www.pcgamer.com/total-war-warhammer-benchmarks-strike-fear-into-cpus/
Also- GPUs age faster than CPUs, thus it is better to invest into CPU and upgrade GPU every 2 years than the other way around.

Thanks for the reply you guys. I made my choice and go for the second build (i7). Do you think the GPU, is good enough for the coming 2-3 years? Or should I invest 50 euro's more, for a excellent one? I don't seem to find a better one in this pricerange (230euro's) ?
