Hi im posting for the first time so please forgive me if i act like an idiot :D

I wanted to buy a gaming laptop for christmas but my friend told me that i can get a more powerful gaming pc for the same price. I have decided on getting the i5 6500 and the Gtx 1070. I want to play the upcoming games on 1440p. Now i read on some other sites that a i5 6500 can bottleneck the 1070....can someone please clarify on this?

Solution
I would like to see these sites. The i5-6500 would not bottle neck the GTX 1070. You can use a i3-6100 with the 1070 and be just fine.

As Zerk said, that's a bit overkill. But the 1070 can handle some 4K content. With eh i5-6500, if you have an extra $200, you can grab a 1080 as well

You can play modern games with the 6500. I know the settings says 6600K, but a lot of people has been successful with the i3 or lower i5 models than what is recommended. It would work just fine. GTA V, Watch Dogs 2, Mafia 3, etc...
