The UD5h Z97X has a built in amplifier but only on the rear green line out jack. If I use the front of the case output the amplifier does not apply. So in order to use the headphone amp I need to plug it into the back. I also use a 5.1 Z5500 speaker system. Which means whenever I want to use my headphones I will have to switch cables. That is far from ideal.
Would be ok if I used a splitter like this: https://www.amazon.com/eFuture-STR_M-SPL_F-Stereo-Y-Splitter-Female/dp/B0012IYLMM
I could then leave the head phone cable of my Sennheiser 598s connected to the splitter and disconnect the other end from the headphones when not in use. Then when I want to use the headphones I can connect the cable to the headphones and then set it to headphone mode in the audio settings.
Will that work or should I just plug the headphones directly whenever I want to use them?
