Hey guys, I have an SSD and an HDD on my PC.

I have moved the data form the SSD to the HDD and am wanting to install a GPT / UEFI win10 on the ssd.

I will remove the hdd and install the gpt/uefi windows on the ssd. then plug the hdd back in.

My question is - will it be detected? Considering it was from a previously MBR environment?

Solution
Yes, Windows will detect and use both types of drives Partitions.

Since you're going to switch the SSD to a GPT Partition system and use UEFI BIOS to boot from it, REMEMBER that Windows only has the required drivers for GPT-Partitioned storage units in its 64-bit versions, not in the 32-bit version. So be sure to Install 64-bit Windows on the SSD and tell it to use the GPT Partition system in doing that.

How exactly do i tell it to do that? I have created a bootable win10 64 bit usb using rufus (and GPT UEFI with NTFS setting). It is my belief that i will boot into the usb - reformat the ssd and normally install windows and it will be GPT?

My primary purpose to get GPT is to get ultra fastboot capibilties. is this achievable via MBR?

It did actually. But it was very simple.

I booted into the USB installation. and at the point where the windows asks the serial number did the following:

1. Press shift+10
2. diskpart
3. list disk
4. select disk 0
5. clean
6. convert gpt

easy peasy. ^^ the windows installed no problemo on the completely freshly formatted SSD after that.
