So I want to get an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 and i have an m5a97 plus motherboard. Will the two be compatible, and if not can anyone suggest a good A/C wireless card for my mobo. Im trying to get better speed than on the N channel and my usb adapter supports only N channels

First if your router isn't AC then getting a AC card won't make a difference. 5GHZ N can be fast, if you're close. Same with AC. If you're far away, 2.4GHZ N is still better.

Also getting a dedicated card regardless of kind is better than USB. USB is limited by speed over a PCI-express card and antenna is generally smaller, etc.
