So I recently built a gaming PC a few days ago and today decided to overclock my FX 6300. I overclocked it to 4.5 and everything seemed to work well. It was only after I looked at my CUP speed did I realize it was still running at stock speed. After a quick Google search I realized that I had accidentally hit the slow mode switch while building. For some stupid reason instead of turning the pc off before switching the switch I switched it while on. My cup speed jumped to where it should be but a few seconds later I got a "you're pc encountered an error and will restart". I restarted my pc and after multiple blue screen before I can even sign in I reset my bios settings back to default. I no longer get blue screens but everything runs very very very slow. Signing in is slow, opening task manager is slow, opening any kind of program is ridiculously slow. Did I accidentally break my computer?. What could I have done and how can I possible fix it?. My mobo is Msi 970 gaming and my temps are good. Any help is greatly appreciated!

How did you overclock the FX cpu you have ?
Did you just stick to changing the cpu multiplier value, or did you at any point also touch the default bus speed set to a 200 Mhz frequency ?
If your answer is you also touched the default 200 Mhz front side bus frequency.
What you have done is also overclocked the system memory of your build.
This will throw the timing and latency values out that are set for the speed your memory runs at resulting in the system being slower because of memory timing errors. The more you overclock system memory in speed the more memory errors it will or can produce.
Also depending on what the factory default cpu frequency is, if you overclock the cpu to high without enough, or extra core voltage set you will experience the same results of the system slowing down, when loading windows or launching a program within windows.
Your two choices are to lower the overclock of the FX 6300 cpu by 100 Mhz by selecting a slightly lower Cpu multiplier value in the bios.
Or to increase the core voltage slightly by 0.250Mv or 0.500Mv.
The core being overclocked but under volted will result in the FX cpu and the memory controler built into the cpu for DDR 3 memory to produce errors.
