I'll start by saying that I don't know much about computers, but here it is. Starting about 2 months ago, my laptop (HP Pavillion 17 Notebook PC) started losing connection to the internet. About every 3-5 minutes, I would lose connection for about 30 seconds, and then get it back. Sometimes I would go a day or two without the problem and sometimes I would go a week where I can't use my computer because I cant stay connected for more than 5 minutes. When it loses connection, about 3/4 of the time it says I am still connected and secured. 1/4 of the time it says No internet, connected. I don't know what to do after trying a few things I've seen on other websites and never solving the problem. I also know that the problem is not my router because there are 2 other laptops and 3 phones connected to it that never have any problems. It is also right next to where I usually have my laptop, so the distance is not the problem. If you know what I should do, please help. Thank you

Hard to say for sure but it could be either a bad driver or a failing card. My first recommendation is to reinstall the driver from the computer manufacturer's web site. If that doesn't help then next step might be to buy a replacement internal wifi card or a USB wifi adapter and install it. Check for the seller's return policy in case the hardware change doesn't solve the problem.

Also don't just dismiss the router as the problem. Try changing channels to see if it makes a difference. Try setting up a 2.4 GHz only SSID and a 5GHz only SSID to test both radios independently. Or buy another router to test out. That is what store return policies are there for. Intermittent errors are rarely as straightforward as we want them...

What you do also depends on how much time spent troubleshooting versus expense is worth to you.
