I'm looking to treat myself to an upgrade on my GPU or CPU this christmas and with my research I was not able to conclude if either of these two items would work with my motherboard. My motherboard is the MSI 970A-G46 (model no. MS-7693) please tell me if either of these will work with this motherboard CPU: https://www.amazon.com/Intel-Skylake-Desktop-Processor-BX80662I56600K/dp/B012M8M7TY/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1481079880&sr=1-1&keywords=i5 GPU: https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Windforce-Graphics-GV-N1060WF2OC-3GD/dp/B01KQUDB1S/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1481077700&sr=1-4&keywords=gtx%2B1060&th=1
Thank you

Solution
The skylake cpu you picked out is Intel, which will not work on your existing motherboard. Unless you want to upgrade to a different motherboard and RAM, you'll need to stick to your current CPU.

So right now, best bet would be to go with the GPU. Another good upgrade for some snappier performance would be to put in an SSD for your OS/Program drive if you don't already have one.

Thanks, so will the GPU I listed work or would I have to get specifically the one you listed (not that there are huge differences)

Would you by chance know how much my AMD FX 6300 would bottleneck the gtx 1060??

^ at stock speed a fair bit.
You're stuck at stock on that board though as its not good enough for overclocking.

Just buy the GPU & enjoy it mate, you won't get 60fps all the time in every game but there's nothing that won't be inherently playable at very high graphics settings.

Ok thanks, just making sure it would be worth it from a 760 correct?
