So, I have yet another question about ram after researching forums and websites with info. So I have a i7 6700k and it says that 2133MHz is the lowest safest clock speed for ddr4, I've seen people that with a OC get it to 3000MHz or even 3200MHz (with issues). I've been looking at some dominator ram at around 2400-2800MHz https://www.scan.co.uk/products/16gb-(4x4gb)-corsair-ddr4-dominator-platinum-pc4-21300-(2666)-non-ecc-unbuffered-cas-12-14-14-35-xmp , if I was to get this ram and run it as 2666MHz with CAS of 12 would I need to OC my cpu and how would I go about doing so, like what parts need to be OC, thanks:)

The only thing you need is to activate the XMP-profile in the bios, and the ram should run at the rated speed. You could call it autooverclocking. However your motherboard also needs to support XMP, in order to use it.

If you choose to OC your CPU, then baseclock overclocking will also affect your RAM. Also you can choose to manually OC the ram, by setting different timings, setting the frequency yourself and adding more voltage. But that is considered more advanced overclocking.

I have no issues with a 6700K, Gigabyte Z170X UD5 and 16GB of GSkill TridentZ DDR4 3200 cas 14. Enabled XMP and it set the RAM with no problems at all.

Sweetspot for DRAM and K model CPUs is about 3-3200, Like Anort above I favor the 3200/14 Trident Z and also the RipJaws V for the tight CL. Have the Zs in both my Z170 and X99 (in sig). Will need to keep in mind the data rate you run is dependent on your individual CPU many 6700Ks and even 6600Ks can run 3200 at stock, others may need a bit of an OC on the CPU to hep the MC (memory controller) out a bit ;)
