How good will my pc be? i5 6500

I am planning to buy an i5 6500 to pair with my gtx 970 and 8gb of 2133mhz ddr4 ram. I was just wondering if all the money i spend on this will be worth it :( i'm not exactly a rich guy, so before I actually buy this, I just wanted to know if I would be getting the most out of my money with this setup. My current cpu is an amd a8 6600k.

It's a good upgrade. I have an i5 4440 and i5 6600K paired with 390Xs which are ~970/980 performance depending on the game and they run demanding games very well @1080p. As you probably already know this will mean buying a new motherboard as well fyi.
