New screen does not work with GPU's HDMI

Hello everyone!

Recently I've brought back from a trip offshore some PC parts to finally upgrade my build. I brought back a new motherboard and CPU along with some memories and a cooler. Besides that, I decided to grab a monitor screen which would be otherwise impossible to get.

So, here's the current build:

Motherboard: Gigabyte z170x - UD3 Ultra
CPU: Intel i7 6700k
Graphics: MSI Nvidia GeForce 970 4GD5T OC 4gb
Screen: Samsung C27F591 27'' Curved screen.

The GPU isn't new, but I bought it back in May.

The problem:

The screen is not working connecting the HDMI cable to the GPU. Neither it does work connecting the HDMI cable to the motherboard. It does, however, work using a VGA cable to a VGA/DVI adapter connected to the GPU. Also, it did work with the HDMI cable connected to the motherboard BUT having the graphics card unplugged.
The screen displays a black screen but does not cycle between source modes, I guess it sort of detects the HDMI connection but it can't quite get through.
I also have a TV which I rarely use, connected to the GPU through another HDMI cable, so the port appears to be working fine and dandy.

After installing the motherboard I did a clean install of the OS and video drivers but it did not work.

I appreciate any help I get, and if you require further information (I obviously skipped some stuff) I'll be happy to provide.

Thank you all kindly!

HI,

Try checking Your nvidea control panel and see if the port is set up as hdmi or vga connection, if not change that to hdmi and restart with cable changed to hdmi and boot, if this does not work, try a different hdmi cable.

I don't seem to find any selectable options for both my Nvidia Control Panel or the BIOS where I can select a specific input type. Haven't tried the CMOS reset yet, but the motherboard is brand new.

Ok, in your BIOS under the Peripherals settings, check the PCIe slot that your GPU is connected to is selected as the initial display output. If its rhe wrong slot or iGFX, then change it. There is no reason why a factory settings new board shouldnt automatically configure the GPU when its connected though. Do you have all power cables attached to GPU?

when on your desktop, right click, then there should be a Nvidea settings option, that will take you to your nvidea control panel. should show under resolution which port is being used. Else check in bios and see if you can set primary display to pci or disable onboard(this should be default when plugging in GPU) [Other option would be to get a MSI board] lol:)

The initial display output is the correct PCIe slot. Also, all the power cables are attached to the GPU and it's working since the screen is currently connected to the GPU using a VGA cable.

Oh, yes. It says it's connected via VGA, which it is, but I can't seem to switch it, even if it's also connected via HDMI (but there is no image with that source)
