Generally people face their free disk space going significantly low due to some virus/infection.But with me, the opposite happened, which makes me a bit worried.
I was rebooting my PC after facing a BSOD (which happened for some random reason). On the Windows 8.1 loading screen, I got a message "Scanning and repairing drive C". This didn't happen for the first time, so it is okay.
However, after that completed, I successfully booted into the OS.. But to my surprise, before all this stuff happened, I had 28.4 GB free space in my E drive. (By the way, my most crucial data lives in E drive). And after all this happened, my E drive now has 30.4 GB free space, i.e. a 2 GB increase in free space for no reason.
I could make myself believe that while the repairing of C drive, the E drive also got a bit optimized and unclustered, which made an increase in free space. But there's one fear in my heart that I suffered from data loss.
Please help me figure out the reason of this sudden increase in free disk space...
