So I'll be moving my pc upstairs soon and the modem is currently downstairs just by my computer meaning Im using an ethernet cable. I don't have a wifi adapter in the pc so I wont be able to take the computer upstairs and just play as the ethernet cable is not long enough. I've been looking at powerline adapter and I found the TP-Link AV600. https://www.amazon.co.uk/TL-PA4010KIT-V1-20-Powerline-Configuration-Required/dp/B01BECPIMC/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481148821&sr=8-3&keywords=powerline+adapter

Now my question is. Can I basically make it so I've got one of those powerline adapters plugged into the modem, then it communicates with the second powerline adapter which will be upstairs and through the adapter upstairs can I run an ethernet cable into my computer so its like using a wired connection despite my pc being far from the modem.

Solution
yes that's how it works. Instead of running an Ethernet cord the whole way you use the powerline adapter to utilize your electrical wiring as an in between. So Ethernet>powerline in>powerline out>Ethernet.

Word of warning powerline adapters are notoriously unreliable, if they don't like how the electrical wiring in your house was installed they will never work. So keep your receipt, just in case.
