Hello PC master race, i am a 15 year old Canadian who is currently building a budget gaming PC, i have already picked my parts. I am aware that this is a hardware site and not a software forum but i still need to ask, is ubuntu a good OS for gaming? I am trying to save as much money as possible and windows 10 costs a LOT, so would ubuntu be a good OS for gaming on steam, watching youtube, and using basic google chrome applications?(google drive for school ETC) I've heard many different things and im confused on if its a good OS

Here is my build
CPU: Intel Core i3-6100 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor
MoBo: Gigabyte GA-H110M-A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR4-2666 Memory
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
GPU: Zotac GeForce GTX 1050 2GB Mini Video Card
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 USB 3.0 MicroATX Mid Tower Case
PSU: EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
Total: $579.92 (Give or take)

Would these parts work well with Ubuntu? Or should i just pay the 180$ CAD for Windows 10

All replys are very much appreciated, -Dom

Not all games will work with Linux. You can get Win10 for less than that too.

I would consider a better power supply. That one is not a very good quality unit. Your ram will not run at that speed either.

I'd ask your school if there are any education discounts before I trust ebay.

Per the original question, Linux in general is a fantastic operating system. It's secure, free, and fast. Trouble is, 99% of games are designed to run on Windows, so you'd need to tinker with WINE to get them running on Linux. Also, while you don't HAVE to use CLI on Linux anymore, it's still a big part of the OS's power.

Windows does cost too much, but for gaming I just can't recommend Linux.

Whats wrong with the PSU? and i found my RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4-2666, i found a dual channel version for a lot cheaper, i know it downgrades the speed to 2133 but i'm okay with that.
