Hi,
I never overclocked before. think it's time to overclock my next pc. In the past I bought the parts and installed them myself. I used to buy parts from a local shop that had decent prices and good service. Now I'm thinking that maybe for overclocking there are different considerations. If I loose the warranty good service is not as important so why not buy from a cheaper place? also, maybe there are stores that sell cpus/ gpus that are better for overclocking. Any reccomendations for stores or general guidelines?

Thanks for you help

I think most people on these forums order parts online from stores like Newegg (US) NCIX (Canada) Mindfactory (Germany). Where do you live?

For overclocking, you will want a quality power supply, a quality motherboard that supports overclocking and hopefully has decent power phases, and a CPU with an unlocked multiplier. (The intels CPUs with "K" at the end of their name, for example.)

You will also want to buy a better CPU cooler, as overclocking and raising the voltage will cause more heat. As for the GPU, just try to buy one with a decent cooler if you want to overclock it.
