Hi, thanks in advance for any advice give.

My fist micro atx build. Need some advice on part selection regarding storage and GPU, or any advice on parts I have currently selected (i.e. is there better choices for the price/thermals/noise etc.)

I have two questions:
1. Please advise on good options for GPU (GTX 1070) bearing in mind the SFF Case, heat output and size but also, as I will have the PC on my desk I want it to be as quiet as possible.
2. I would like to utilise the M.2 socket on the motherboard with (preferably) 500gb storage to be used as boot drive to install Windows. I have limited knowledge so would like some advice/options please.

I will be using the PC for work (excel/word etc) and gaming in 2k, or 4k in the future (hopefully).

I wouldn't OC the CPU in a SFF, but you can if you like. I would opt for something a bit different:

But it is up to you if this meets your needs. I used a non-OC'ing CPU and a Mini GPU, to give you the most room for cable management and also give you more room in general.

If you want HT'ing:

Thanks for you reply lunyone

I did want to utilise the M.2 socket on the motherboard for the extra speed running applications and windows etc rather than a 2.5" SSD. I noticed you suggest "Samsung 850 Pro Series 512GB 2.5" Solid State Drive". I actually have a couple of spare Samsung SSD's which I plan on using, the trouble I am having is with the M.2 socket SSD in particular. Is this a bad option, if so, why?

Cheers

I don't think it is a bad option, but it is a spendy one, IMHO. If you have some spare SSD's lying around, you are probably better off using them and use the $ saved on other options, IMHO. I listed the 850 pro, because the 960 EVO wasn't listed as available. If I was going to spend the $ on a PCI-e based SSD, I would opt for the 960 EVO, because it is about 90-95% of the Pro version and doesn't cost as much as the Pro version.

I actually just built a node 202 build. Um be prepared for heat problems with the CPU. I had to turn the ram back down to 2133 from 3000 to get the temps under control on mine.

At this point I think its safe for me to say I made a mistake on my GPU choice. You absolutely need to buy a blower style GPU. The case simply does not push air out of itself fast enough due to its total lack of exhaust fans. Also case absolutely must be in the vertical orientation.

While I like the concept of this case I've come to the conclusion that it is not fit for a 91W CPU. My current plan is to switch to a different case at some point as this one simply isn't going to cut it for me.

my version.

Ok so I was looking at the MSI 1070 Aero OC which is a blower style GPU which fits my build nicely with its slim design. After reading reviews online I am led to believe that it suffers from overheating and throttling. Does anyone know of any similar cards (blower style) which perform well and do not suffer from overheating? I am after a 1070.
