update:
It's 64-bit as it's an FX-8320. Not sure if that was updated as I missed it before.

Anyway, I still recommend buying W10 Home 64-bit.

I don't think you can simply install W7 64-bit for free. You'd need a 32/64-bit license for that which is pretty unlikely.

Also, Windows 10 is required for DX12 games which are starting to happen. Most or all will have DX11 support for quite some time though your CPU will run better with DX12 vs DX11 (if the game is properly coded. there's some growing pains there, though GEARS OF WAR 4 is looking pretty good).

In another...
1) You can Google how to find out if it's 32 or 64-bit as it varies a bit by OS.

I'm on Windows 10 and if I right-click Start-> System, it shows that it's 64-bit.

2) If you're 32-bit OS then you can only address 4GB for the memory map usually. That includes the video memory so you might have a 1GB video card. A little bit is used by other resources and then Windows can use up to whatever remains of the 4GB.

So if 16GB installed you need 64-bit Windows to benefit.

3) TASK MANAGER can also show how much is actually usable by Windows. (i.e. in W10 right-click Start-> Performance)
- my system presently shows 5.3GB/15.9GB so I have 16GB usable with 5.3GB actually used.

And it is. Like everyone is saying, you are going to need to get a copy of 64-bit version of Windows. Or else, you will not use your full amount of RAM.

update:
ignore anything I wrote here as people were updating.

*You need to buy a 64-bit copy. I suggest going with Windows 10 Home 64-bit. You may find some legit versions for well under $85 USD but tread carefully. Otherwise just buy an official DVD through a respectable store.

You will also need to reinstall everything. You can't upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit and keep programs.

In another year we'll see much better support for some titles for DX12 which will make a big difference for you likely. Higher FPS possibly, or much smoother gameplay. If you don't understand then i'd read up on DX12 like THIS one:

I must repeat, it's ONLY for newer games that are properly coded for DX12. On top of that, you'd need to tweak settings to optimize especially with 2GB of VRAM you don't want settings that need more than 2GB (unless it's a 4GB 960 if that's a thing).
