I recently bought a new SSD, mobo and a cpu. I plan on doing a clean install of the OS and have a few games (window 7) on my SSD, while I have everything else on my HDD. Do I delete all the drivers off of my mobo first and then install the SSD, or is that unnecessary? Do I enable AHCI mode before or after I install the SSD? Do I have to delete the OS on my HDD after I install the OS on my SSD? It would be great if you guys can provide step-by-step instructions.

Well drivers are not stored on the motherboard. here is what I would do, I would backup what is important on the hard drive (games install files, documents files, etc). Then hook up the SSD, use a windows USB stick and install to the SSD. Then once the installatino is done, go ahead and format the hard drive as a regular disk drive, and transfer your information back. That way you will not have two OS'es.

yes, but how do I go about installing the SSD? Is this the routine I need to follow:

1) Back up any drivers/files/etc that I need
2)Delete drivers that might conflict with changing mobos
3)turn PC off and install the new SSD, mobo, and cpu
4)unplug my HDD
5)turn on PC and change the boot order to prioritize SSD and enable AHCI
6)insert window 7 installation disk and proceed to partition my SSD

I wouldnt back up drivers if it's a completely different mobo. Or if it uses a different chipset. They wont work

The only things you can backup are docs and pics etc

Download the drivers for the new mobo put them on a flash drive or something

Unplug the hdd, connect the ssd, enable AHCI in the BIOS BEFORE you install windows, not after.

Boot from the DVD or whatever you have (change it to the bootdisk in the BIOS). Follow whats on screen. When it finishes, you can connect the old hdd again

If you want to use the old hdd after you reinstall windows on the ssd, reconnect the hdd, and if you want to format it, you can format it after windows is on the ssd

I read somewhere that I shouldn't partition the SSD
