I just read that the nb speed should be the same or higher than the htlink speed, i have a msi gaming 970 with a fx 8320. By default, my cpu-nb ratio is 2200mhz and my htlink is 2400mhz some how. Should i move my nb frequency up 1 tick to make it also 2400mhz ? If so, can i do it on stock nb voltage of 1.264v?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Also for education purposes, what happens when the nb speed is less than the htlink speed?

Solution
Actually, this isn't a very big issue at all. The possible effects of a slow NB come in when it's more than 500MHz slower than the HT link speed.

Your settings are fine, there is no issue here.

Yeah this board has the hottest vrms I've seen. I just read it in the bios the message but if ill have no issues then i might as well leave it. I overclocked it the cpu from 3.5 to 4.2, would that 200 mhz difference between the nb and htlink make a difference then? Or is the logic still the same? Thanks for your quick response btw.

Changing the CPU frequency does not change the relationship between the HT link speed and NB speed.

When the difference is more than 500MHz, you may notice that PCIe devices and SATA devices may not be recognized correctly, or may not work at all.

Worst case scenario, the invalid settings prevent the board from booting.
