Hey everyone!

I just bought a GTX 1070 ASUS strix 1070 8GB OC not long ago which replaced my old Radeon 6970. Sadly it seems that I'm getting nowhere near the average FPS Benchmarks in games such as DOOM, World of Warcraft and Overwatch.

In Overwatch I never get over 100 FPS. In DOOM it's around 70-90 fps. In wow it depends a lot on which area I'm in but the average FPS is between 50-70 FPS. In wow my GPU is rarely using 100%. Most of the time it stays at 40-50% usage.

I'm playing all the games on max settings(no V-sync) 1080p and use 100 % render scale.

Here are the Benchmarks for the GPU:
Overwatch(this one is for the MSI one though):

DOOM:

Specs:
GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 1070 8 GB OC.
CPU: i7 950 3.07 GHz
RAM: 24 GB crucial DDR3 1066 Mhz
PSU: CORSAIR CX650M 650W
HDD: 2x 1TB FUJITSU MARVELL Raid 0
MB: P6X58D-E (LG1366) (PCIe 2.0 x16)
OS: Windows 7 64-bit

I'm wondering if my old Motherboard or my CPU might be bottlenecking the GPU? or maybe there's something wrong with the GTX 1070 Card?

Solution
70-90 in Doom, isn't really unexpected. Your GTX 1070 is really close to a GTX 980ti, performance wise. Your gen 1 i7 would be somewhere around an FX 8300 series, in terms of performance.

your cpu would have been ok with a 1060

nowhere near enough for a 1070

But even though it's a bottleneck we're talking about 70 fps lower than what guru3D have in their Benchmark. I can see that my GPU only runs at 70 % in DOOM.
Do you think I'd be getting that much more from my GTX 1070 if I upgraded my CPU ? :)

I think you might be right :) But I did find a thread about the gtx 1070 and some of the older i7's on reddit. There's a guy who tested the gtx 1070 with his old i7 930 CPU. He did manage to get the high frames in Doom (around those 160 fps) with his old Procceser:

Don't know if that's because he OC'ed his CPU a bit?
