So recently my landlord updated our router from an older model to a new one (I'm renting a room in a house). The old router was slow and my computer had trouble connecting to it without using a USB wireless adapter. The new router is an Archer C7 Dual Band Gigabit Router with a 2.4Ghz band and a 5Ghz band. After installation, I had trouble connecting to either, so we set the router to the 5Ghz and I was able to connect without any problem. My download/upload speeds are fine, however when I open up any game to play, even without needing an internet connection after about 5 minutes the wireless connection disappears. I then have to refresh my Wifi list to be able to reconnect.

System Specs:
Intel Core i5-6400 CPU @ 2.70Ghz, 2.71Ghz
EVGA 750 Watt power supply
Windows 10 version 1511 64 bit
12 GB RAM
1 250GB SSD, 1 1TB HD
Wireless adapter is Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 and I have a Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller

I've already tried updating all drivers, setting my power settings to max performance, keeping the computer from turning the adapter off. I'd like to see if I can fix this problem without having to touch the router as I don't currently have access to it.

Thanks!

I don't have a modem associated with this computer, just the router. [strike]Even after updating the wireless adapter with the driver from their site the problem still persists.[/strike]

Well I changed my adapter card to only use 5ghz signals and now it doesn't turn off any more. The problem now is that my ping will go through the roof while playing. I didn't have this problem before.
